If the primary purpose of your blog is to teach others about a subject you are passionate about, and the subject is covered at Knoitall, then we think we have the perfect platform for you.

Why?

A few reasons.

First, we have a highly engaged and rapidly growing audience of lifelong learners.  Each time a learner signs up, and their interests match those that you blog about, they can elect to follow and learn from you.  So, Knoitall provides a "built-in" audience of potential followers that will help you build your brand.

Second, we can help you organize your blog posts into pathways that place your posts in the order you would like them to be read by your followers.  Each day, one of your blog posts will be pulled out of your pathway and delivered to your followers in the order you placed it. This is great if you have a particular order you'd like your posts to follow.  And, you don't even need to create new posts to reach your followers.  Your existing posts can be delivered to new followers if they are placed into a Pathway.

Finally, our platform supports opportunities for you to get paid for your knowledge.  Once your followers trust that you know what you're blogging about, they are much more likely to pay for a direct connection to you.

We call your space on Knoitall a classroom, with the primary focus of helping you to create and organize blog posts around learning.  We call them learning posts, and they are quite simply blog posts that deliver learning outcomes.

If you're already a member at Knoitall, Start by clicking the Teach button and create you first learning post. If you haven't yet joined, try us out.  I think you'll like how simple it is to educate your world through Knoitall.

Congratulations! You've just joined the smartest community on the internet.  We're really glad you're here and we truly do want this to become the best 15 minutes in your daily routine.  This is our goal for every person who joins Knoitall.

To that end, we have made every attempt to connect you with people who are experts in the topics that interest you.  When you signed up, you identified the topics you want to learn more about, and, hopefully, you selected some people and organizations that deliver learning around those topics.  This process can always be updated!  From within your learning feed, click on the "Find More Providers" link and you can add topics of interest, or find more providers that cover your current topics.

If you've just logged in, you have landed in your learning feed.  This is where we organize all of your learning opportunities so that you can quickly browse and view anything new, comment or ask questions, or post your own learning opportunities.  We try to give you all of the tools to do all of your own learning and your teaching directly from within your learning feed.

You will be notified through email any time something new is delivered to your learning feed.  You will also be notified if others choose to follow you, and/or if they have comments and questions on the learning posts you have created.

When you arrive at your feed, we provide a few tools that we hope will help direct you to the learning that is most valuable to you.  You'll notice that each learning post begins with a set of outcomes.  These tell you specifically what you will learn if you consume that piece of learning.  You'll also see that we've structured the information on each piece of learning so that you can quickly see who created it, the format of the learning, and the age range that it is appropriate for.  We provide you with a "snippet" of the learning content, but you can click the "Read more" link to open up the remainder of the content.  Or, if you want to focus on a specific piece of learning, just click its title and you will be taken to a separate page to view it in more detail.

Do you have questions or comments on a piece of learning content in your feed?  Just click on the comments link and type away.  The provider will be notified and you will be notified when they respond.  You can also share content with others in your network by clicking the "Share" link.

So, now that you've become an active learner through Knoitall, it's time to teach others!  When you signed up, you were prompted to identify some topics that you know something about.  We used this information to create your very own classroom where anything you create to teach others will be stored.  You can always edit your classroom to add an image, rename it, add a profile, and sign up to accept credit card payments.  This is all done through the "My Classroom" link above.

But you don't have do any of that to get started teaching others.  Simply click on the "Teach" link at the top of your feed, and select the type of learning you wish to deliver.  We recommend you start by "Sharing Your Knowledge".  It's easy.  It's set up just like a blogging platform, but with some specialized tools so that you can focus on teaching others what you know.

Enjoy your own personal learning feed and contribute to the community by sharing what you know.

  1. Learn how your Knoitall classroom can be privatized
Free Resource (Video, Article, Pod Cast or Other)
Teen, Adult

We serve a number of organizations that have created private classrooms for their key stakeholders.  Many times the learning they want to deliver is proprietary and contains key intellectual property that they would prefer not make it into the public domain.

Knoitall supports this approach by privatizing the classroom through Simple SAML Single Sign On.  This is a digital handshake that occurs between an organizations server and Knoitall, and allows a person authenticated on the organization's side to enter the Knoitall classroom.

Knoitall has resources that are devoted to this service for organizations that seek it.  It normally takes a couple of weeks to work out the details and set up the authentication through SSO.

If you are interested in privatizing your classroom, please email us at support@knoitall.com and someone will reach out to you with more details.

In the future we plan to launch the capability to privatize your classroom and grant access based upon approval of individuals who request access.  At this point SSO is the only option.

  1. Learn how to attach advising sessions, classes, and webinars to your existing content across the web
  2. Learn how to use Knoitall's Future features to easily connect paid teaching opportunities to existing content
Free Resource (Video, Article, Pod Cast or Other)
Teen, Adult

Probably each of us has some legacy content spread across the internet, or sitting in our hard drives gathering dust.  If we blog, every one of our posts may provide valuable nuggets of learning-related content that has helped our audiences.

Knoitall wants to provide a way for our audience to monetize this existing content.

Connecting Free content to Paid Teaching

We are building functionality to allow you to quickly and easily tie your existing content across the internet to paid advising opportunities through Knoitall.  In this way, if you have a current follower who wants to know more about your free content, they can quickly schedule a session with you to learn more.

We think this is a great way for you to monetize what you know.  We think your followers will love it too.  Now they can connect directly with you if they have any additional questions around the topics you cover in your free content.

In the future, when you create a learning post, you will have the option of either attaching an existing learning event to that item, or you will be able to create a new learning event at the same time.  As shown in the picture above, this event will get marketed to your users right alongside the free content they are consuming.

We'd love your feedback.  Please let us know your thoughts on this upcoming feature.  We'll let you know when it's rolled out.

  1. Teach others what you know through Knoitall
  2. Share your knowledge through learning posts
  3. Make money selling your time
Free Resource (Video, Article, Pod Cast or Other)
Pre-teen, Teen, Adult

Congratulations!  You've just found your way to one of the most exciting new communities on the internet.  Exciting because we're all passionate about sharing what we know and learning from others.

At Knoitall we believe everyone is both a student and a teacher of others.  We help you educate your world using the tools we've developed here.

Get started with a simple learning post.  Click on the "TEACH" button and select the sharing option.  Create your first contribution to the Knoitall community, and then share it in your own social networks.

WANNA RAISE YOUR SOCIAL INFLUENCE?  Do more than post pictures and tweets...teach your audience and they will see you as someone who is deeply knowledgable about the topics you cover online.  BLOGGING IS GREAT, BUT TEACHING IS BETTER!

We make it easy for you to wrap learning around your existing content so that you don't have to recreate those items that already deliver learning outcomes.  Use our sharing tools to tag your existing content.  I'm using them right now.  Do you notice that this post has 3 Learning outcomes identified?  It also is tagged to our learning tags so that others who want to know more about this topic (Knoitall) can find it.  Finally, this post identifies the age range of the audience that it is appropriate for.  It's just another layer of protection.

Once you have shared what you know, move upstream and create an offering to sell what you know. Your audience will be much more likely to buy from you if you've been giving them great content for free and proving to them that you really do know a lot about the topics you cover. Again, start by clicking on the "Teach" button and selecting the sell option.  You can create a one-to-one advising session, a face-to-face class or a webinar.  Sell what you know to an individual or to a whole group!  And once you list an offering for sale, we'll help you sell it.  We'll market it to our audience if they've expressed interest in the topics you cover.

The sooner you get started, the better.  Our community is waiting to learn more about what you know.  Try it...Teach it!

  1. Learn how bloggers can use Knoitall to make more money
  2. Learn how teachers can use Knoitall to build their brand and make more money
Free Resource (Video, Article, Pod Cast or Other)
Teen, Adult

We are often asked the question, "Are you a teaching platform for bloggers or a blogging platform for teachers?"  Of course the easy answer is BOTH.  But the longer answer is that our platform is used in many different ways based upon the goals of the user.

  1. Bloggers use Knoitall to monetize what they know - Bloggers most likely already have a platform they use to blog.  Wordpress is the #1 blogging platform, but there are hundreds of others, and hundreds of thousands of blogs.  But what bloggers are searching for are additional ways to monetize their social influence obtained through their audiences.  For most of these bloggers, the two options are Google Ads and Amazon endorsements.  The problem is that many times these items don't reflect the intent of the blogger, and the results can be sub optimal.

Instead, bloggers can make a lot more money providing one-to-one instruction or online group classes to their audience on the topics they cover through their blog.  Knoitall gives them the tools to provide this level of engagement with their audience.
  2. Teachers use Knoitall to blog and to tutor - Many teachers, who spend their time in the classroom during the day, blog through Knoitall after school.  Sometimes it's to highlight key topics that were covered with their students during the day...other times it may be to connect to a larger audience than what is realistic in the classroom. This helps raise the user's social influence and provides additional opportunities for one-to-one tutoring or online webinars that can provide additional income to the teacher.

Both audiences deliver classes and tutoring through the platform, and both have expertise in the topics they cover.  We are thankful to have both teachers and bloggers using our platform to educate their worlds, and we will continue to look for ways to enhance the experience for all.

  1. Learn how to use Knoitall as a directory for your learning-related podcasts
  2. Learn how to create a learning pathway for your podcasts by placing them in the order you'd like them to be listened to
  3. Learn how a new podcast will get automatically delivered to your audiences' individual feeds on a daily basis

Knoitall is one of many directories that you can use to list and promote your podcasts to your audience and to others who may express interest in the topics you cover.  But Knoitall has some unique capabilities that are not available through other podcast directories, and these capabilities can have a dramatic impact on consumption of your podcasts by your audience.

First, let's take a look at the typical podcast consumer today.  Podcasts are quickly replacing videos as the "go-to" source for people who want to learn more about a particular topic or topics.  They are more portable than videos because they don't require viewing, which makes them a great option for commuters.  They are also easier to consume since the user is not required to view the content. In many ways, listening is easier than viewing.

Many consumers have a routine for listening to their favorite podcasters. They may listen once a day on their way to work from the gym, or during their lunch hour.

Knowing the characteristics of the podcast consumer, Knoitall has built functionality that promotes your podcasts to your audience in ways that increase their listening habits.

First and foremost, you can set up your podcasts to be listened to in a particular order, so as to follow a progression of topics.  For example, if you are covering a series of lectures on the history of the universe, you definitely want users to listen to these podcasts in a particular order.  Knoitall provides a simple way for you to list and organize your podcasts into a pathway that orders them from beginning to end.

And then, once your podcasts are organized into a pathway, Knoitall leverages our "learning feed" technology to ensure that your podcasts are delivered to your audience in the order they were placed in the pathway.  So, each day your followers will receive a new podcast from your existing list, and this podcast will follow the order you created in your learning pathway.

The easiest way to create a pathway of podcasts is to begin by listing your existing podcasts.  You can do that by clicking on the "Teach" button above and selecting the "share" option.  If your podcasts exist somewhere else, link to them by clicking on the "External Link" option.  Create a description for your podcast, identify the learning outcomes from your podcast, and then tag it.  It's that simple. Once you have a listing of podcasts in Knoitall, click on the "My Classroom" link above and select "Add a Pathway" to structure your podcasts into the order you would like them to be consumed.

If you want to increase the engagement of your podcasts, and maximize the value of your intellectual capital, list your podcasts with Knoitall and create a learning pathway.
